Churches & Routes 2025

You can visit whichever churches you like on your sponsored Ride & Stride – of any denomination, regardless of whether the church is open or closed. However, not all churches will be open for visitors, and not all of those that are open will be manned or able to provide refreshments. On this page, you can find:

  • A map of churches that have told us they are going to be open on 13th September 2025 (other churches may also be open)
  • A list of churches that will be open and their facilities and opening times (many rural churches are always open, in which case the times given may indicate when facilities are available)
  • Some pre-planned routes we have created that you may or may not find helpful when planning your own

Map of Churches open to visitors

Zoom in the map to see particular areas of interest more clearly.

Please note that this map gives the location of each church according to postcode. For the exact location of the church, please use an OS or online map or follow local signs.

Due to a technical issue beyond our control that is preventing additional points to be added to the map, the following churches are registered as open and listed below but do not appear on the map above:

  • Abberley St Michael
  • Abberley St Mary
  • Bewdley All Saints
  • Bredon’s Norton
  • Huddington St James

Pre-planned Routes

Participants are free to visit any church or chapel, of any denomination, as part of their Ride & Stride. However, some may find it helpful to use a suggested pre-planned route. There are now five sets of pre-planned routes to choose from, some of which have both longer and shorter options so that you can choose which one suits you best.

Click on the links to find out more about each route, and on the ‘route map’ options to see digital maps of each route.

Suggested Route 1: Droitwich and Bowbrook

A 16 or 32 mile route beginning at Droitwich railway station and encompassing a variety of historic churches in the beautiful countryside of mid-Worcestershire.

Suggested Route 2: Worcester West

A 20 or 40 mile route in the picturesque Teme Valley, starting in either Worcester or Malvern.

Suggested Route 3: Bredon Hill

A circular route with stunning views that encompasses the popular area surrounding Bredon Hill towards the east of the diocese.

Suggested Route 4: Evesham

An ‘Arc’ of churches around Evesham, starting at Sedgeberrow which borders the Bredon Hill route above. This route is rural and avoids the town of Evesham itself.

Suggested Route 5: Southwest Worcestershire

This ‘deepest southwest’ route starts in the attractive riverside town of Upton upon Severn and goes west and south of the town through countryside at the south end of the Malvern hills.
